03 July 2015

My indefagitable Assistant Legal Officer, Ella Davis, has been on a well deserved holiday for the last week and a bit, meaning I’ve been busier than normal.

So, in a short quiet moment this morning, I decided to check They Work For You for anything recent about the review of employment tribunal fees. Perhaps I had missed a significant development.

Since its announcment, there have been the following statements (I’ve excluded statements that just refer to the announcement or answer questions by reminding people of the existence of the review):

Justin Madders: To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, which bodies his Department consulted on the terms of reference for the review of the employment tribunal fees regime.

Shailesh Vara, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice: I have been asked to reply as responsibility for this falls within the Ministry of Justice's remit. This is an internal Government review and we have not asked for submissions from the public.

Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh: To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, what plans he has to meet with Ministers in the Scottish Government as part of his Department's review of employment tribunal fees.

Shailesh Vara, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice: There are currently no plans to meet Ministers in the Scottish Government to discuss employment tribunal fees.

I’m still busy, so I’m afraid I haven’t any comment to add. But then I’m not sure that’s really necessary.
